Nelson "Big Head" Bighetti Jr. is a software designer, creator of Nip Alert, and a secondary character in HBO's Silicon Valley.

Background[]

Nelson "Big Head" Bighetti Jr. is of Italian heritage and was raised in Arizona. He attended Arizona State University for 5 years before dropping out. He is the best friend of Richard, who he formerly lived and worked with in the Hacker Hostel (an incubator owned by Erlich) with Gilfoyle and Dinesh. He admittedly isn’t great at any one aspect of building sites or coding, but Big Head is considered more of a “jack of all trades.” Nelson is a competent enough software developer to maintain a low-level job at Hooli, but does not bring any exceptional skill to cutting-edge projects such as Pied Piper, which causes a mismatch with his genius-level coworkers.

During his time at the hostel, Big Head was developing Nip Alert, a GPS-driven application designed to give you the location of women with erect nipples.[1] He leaves the hostel after taking an offer (proffered out of spite by Gavin) to work for Hooli, where he hangs out on the roof, consumes Big Gulps, and makes a potato gun. Which was cool, until he and some other employees put a Mr. Potato Head in it. He did not like that.

He is later promoted to make it look like he was the true creator of Pied Piper whole at Hooli but is unaware of this.

In The Uptick his and Erlich's company Bachmanity purchases Pied Piper.
